The Kiss Goodbye

"I knew from the moment she stepped into my office she was trouble, but I had no clue just how far her tendrils would worm their way into my life. Now I find myself ensnared in the constricting arms of her deception; the lingering scent of her perfume still swirls through my brain like intoxicating brandy. She stops to blow a kiss goodbye, and I know then my fate is sealed. My head spins, and the room goes black. My parents were right; I should have been a doctor. "

A noir-inspired illustration constructed in Illustrator with finishing touches in Photoshop.

The View

"Once she saw it, she would never be able to unsee it. Something in her from that point on had changed. She was the same person, or so it seemed, but altered in some intangible way. They said the view here was to die for, but what she really wanted to know now, was how to live with it..."

An experiment with positive and negative space in the context of a highly graphic two-tone style, constructed in Illustrator with finishing touches in Photoshop.

A Mad Tea Party

"A land was full of wonder, mystery, and danger. Some say, to survive it, you
need to be as mad as a hatter. Which, luckily, I am."

-
Lewis Carroll

Composite art made from a mix of my own photography and stock
images in Photoshop.

The Mad Hatter is played by myself and Alice by Renata Polivka.

Chicago Apocalypse

Item 1 of 2

"I can see we're in for a fabulous evening's apocalypse."

-Douglas Adams

An exercise in my destructive tendencies through the medium of Photoshop for a class I took on digital matte painting. I took the original image and removed all traces of people and trees, used stock images of derelict buildings to demolish the beautiful Chicago skyline, and tuned day to night. Also, I added many additional textures and effects like fog, as well as, altering the reflections in the "Bean".

The Dreamer

“Your visions will become clear only when you can look into your own heart.
Who looks outside, dreams; who looks inside, awakes.”

-Carl Jung

Cover image for a dream journal I had been keeping. Drawn with pencil
and paper and then scanned into Photoshop for colour and manipulation.

The Birth (and Subsequent Demise) of the Venus De Flylo

My reworking of Sandro Botticelli’s masterpiece, The Birth of Venus. Where Botticelli attempts to depict the beauty and grace of the divine, I have instead decided to focus on themes of tension and the struggle of life's smallest and
often overlooked creatures.

Drawn by hand and then painted in Photoshop.
